Kenya Trip

It is difficult to think of the right adjectives to describe our trip to Kenya. There were so many highs and lows, that to summarize it all in one day would not do it justice. As we continue to expand our business model to all parts of the globe, our vision and mission statement remain the same. That is to empower widowed women from around the world through economic opportunity. In Kisumu, Kenya we did just that. This trip we continued our use of micro loans, agribusiness and handicraft development as means to provide a better quality of life for the Kenyan people. On top of the severe poverty, lack of access to clean water and sanitation problems that plagued the communities that we encountered, many of the locals also suffered from HIV/Aids.

While none of us are doctors and therefore cannot help their diseases, we could help them economically. One of the toughest things for poor people to gain access to is credit/capital. Through micro financing we were able to give a group of orphans a 50,000 shilling loan for their growing businesses. In just two years, this group have grown their initial start up loan to an astonishing 64,000 shillings (500% increase in growth). To speak with these widows and there children was humbling. We were so honored to play a small role in the economic development of their communities. We're not sure if they will remember us years from now, but we surely won't forget them. They are the reason why we do what we do.
