“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use."
At FS, we believe extremism is fueled by a lack of education. Sadly, only 28% of Afghans can read and write and, of the female population, only 14% are literate. Recently, team FS developed a plan to change this paradigm. We are working extremely hard with our Afghan partners to build a school for children on the margins of society. Forty children of the women we employ have already signed up and we are expecting to gain several more in the coming months. The children are our primary focus; however, we also intend on teaching their parents how to read and write as well. We believe that in doing so, we will help foster in an age of peace, justice, and equality in the communities in which our team works.
This journey will no doubt be challenging, but we welcome the opportunity to make a difference in these children’s lives. We are taking a stand against violence, inequality, and injustice. Will you stand with us?
